REAL SLIMQUICK® Pure Story – Nikki

Real SLIMQUICK® Pure Customer Stories

real slimquick story Nicole Blatkewicz

Hi:) I have lost 30lbs on slimquick pure regular strength:)
I just purchased the extra strength pure, is it much stronger then the regular? Thanks

unnamed[3]Nikki first reached out to us in April of 2014 on Facebook, curious about our extra strength caplets.  She notified us that she had lost 30lbs with SLIMQUICK® Pure, the 25lb Challenge and that she wanted to keep moving ahead towards her weight loss goal. Then, when we contacted her in February of 2015 to check in, we discovered that she had since lost a whopping 60lbs in just 10 months!  We chatted with her about her journey, and knew that this was definitely a story worth sharing…

What made you decide that you were interested in losing weight?

I have been struggling with my weight and my body image for a long time. When I hit my late twenties, I couldn’t shake off my pregnancy weight. Since then, I feel like I’ve been on a diet for the last 13 years! And not only was I constantly failing, but I actually found myself getting even bigger.

I had failed with so many weight loss products and diets in the past that,I didn’t even know where to begin anymore.   My weight and how I felt in my clothes consumed my every thought.  Time I could have put towards important things was wasted on worrying and obsessing about my weight and body insecurities instead.

Everywhere you go now, you always see people taking photos of themselves and excitedly posting them all over the net. I avoided situations where I thought my picture would be taken. Whenever I would see a photo of myself, I would feel sick and ashamed of how I looked.  And it was affecting my relationships too – when my husband and friends would tell me I looked great, I wouldn’t believe them. I’d feel embarrassed and judged my self too harshly.

My weight was holding me back from my life. I just didn’t have the confidence that I had had when I was younger, and I felt like a complete failure for not being successful with weight loss. Perhaps the scariest part was realizing that my weight wasn’t only  going to ruining my physical health, but that I was allowing it to destroy my mental health as well.

So that was it. I knew it was time for a change. I decided in March of 2014 that I wanted to lose weight for my 40th birthday.

real weight loss stories

How did you get started?

I had tried looking for an easy weight loss fix for years, and would always wind up disappointed. This time around, something changed inside me. My approach to weight loss shifted, and I knew it would be different this time.

I decided to lose 40lbs for my 40th birthday, and I was determined.  This time, I made exercise a key part of my lifestyle.  I got the MyFitnessPal app and used social media to encourage me. Due to a pre-existing back problem, I was limited to the types of fitness and exercises I could do, so I started looking for additional ways to help me reach the results I was after.

I had already purchased and tried practically every diet product on Walmart’s shelves, but I had never tried SLIMQUICK® Pure Extra-Strength. This time, it really peaked my interest. I liked that it wasn’t a “magic skinny pill” and loved the SLIMQUICK® 25lb Challenge tools and support system that was offered with it.  It was like Weight Loss 101! The program encouraged a normal, healthy lifestyle, and the meal plan was amazing for inspiration. I decided to give myself Saturdays for cheat meals or to indulge in chocolate covered strawberries, but overall, I stayed right on the program guide.

And I could eat what I wanted – I just needed to balance it.  I could still have my sandwich for lunch, as long as I balanced it with my food choices for dinner.  It was kept simple; the focus was on maintaining 1300 calories a day and having balance.

Any defining moments?

Absolutely. Losing 40lbs before I turned 40 changed my life. I felt successful and proud, I reached my first goal.    Since losing that weight, I’m way more confident in public. I actually did a local “Color Run!”  I never would have dreamed of signing up for something like that before!  I mean, I actually ran and exercised in public! Believe me, that’s a big deal.  Dealing with my insecurities and a common fear among most overweight people is being judged while trying to exercise in any environment, let alone a public fitness event! But I did it. It was so exciting, my Husband,Son and Mom were running beside me, in support.  As I was running my favorite quote went through my head “Success is a sum of small efforts repeated day in and day out” …. I had success and it felt amazing!

It was also nice that, for the first time in a long time, I no longer had to shop in plus sized stores anymore. Now I can shop in any store I want, just like everyone else.

What are some valuable things readers can take away from hearing your story?

You have to want to do it for YOU.  When I firmly decided I was going to lose 40lbs by my 40th birthday, everything changed.  I began to look at myself in a different light.  I wanted to change my life, so I simply made my goal and decided that I was someone who could actually achieve it.  This “can do” attitude helped me develop a sense of self-worth, which I had been missing in my life before.

The majority of us women have been on diets our whole life and have yet to see results.  How many times do you fail at something before you begin to believe that you can’t do it and begin to give up?  Please don’t! You’re not alone, keep going, believe, and it will happen. For so long the number on a number on a scale defined who I was, it took a complete change in mind set to help me get here, I will not let a number define me, I will use weight loss in pounds as goals, but now I know the most important thing is acceptance of who I am, how I feel, I will not let a number on scale ever define me again.

I’ve lost 60lbs off my body so far, and have new goals both weight wise and other.  Now I believe I can do it.  Now I believe I can lose a total of 100lbs before my 41st birthday in May. Most importantly, I now know that I’m worth the effort.

What’s next for you Nicole?

My next goal…is to take a real body shot.

I was so embarrassed of my body that I wouldn’t even take a picture of myself other than a selfie, when I started this weight loss journey. It’s taken me a long time to get here, to a place where I am secure and confident with the person I see looking back at me in the mirror.  There are so many different body types and I’m not going to compare myself to another type, I’m proud of who I am and were I’m going.  At  5’5 I want to reach my goal of 160lbs and live a happy, healthy life and inspire others.

I also want to get to a point in my life where I sign up for a gym and really believe I have the right to be there.  Until now, I was too embarrassed to work out in public. I admire people that go to the gym, workout and stay healthy.  I want to be one of those people.

Who were the significant figures in your life that supported you through your weight loss journey?

Even just a few short months ago, I never imagined that I’d be sharing my weight loss success story with you all. And I sincerely want to thank SLIMQUICK® Pure for helping me with my weight loss. Your products really made a difference, and I loved your 25lbs Challenge, the menu plan, diet tips and all the community tools you provide for free.

My husband and son have been amazing supporters.  My son offers to go on walks with me instead of watching T.V.  My husband joins in on all my meals and does his best to hide and cover up when he eats unhealthy food!  And I would also like to thank my friend and fitness instructor Corrine, she has been amazing with her advice and support.

I think that having a support group that really cares about you can make all difficult things in life truly possible. I want to thank everyone in this SLIMQUICK® Community that shares their stories. I cherish all of your successes. They’ve helped me appreciate all the little wins, and each and every pound that I lost. We all know and understand how hard it can be.
