How I Proved My Doctor Wrong & Dropped 35 Lbs in Just One Summer…

Despite hitting 230 lbs and feeling at an all time low, Erin Thomas’s doctor warned her that, with her medical condition, she shouldn’t bother getting her hopes up in regards to successful weight loss. That was back in March. Since then, not only has Erin proven her doctors wrong, but she’s proven to her astonished family and friends that the right combination of SLIMQUICK, healthy eating, exercise and determination can turn someone’s entire life around.More importantly, she’s proven to herself that she has the power to take her life into her own hands and achieve the weight loss results she so desperately wanted her whole life – no matter what anyone else said.

After hearing about her incredible journey, we were very excited to talk further with Erin, and to share her tale with the rest of the SLIMQUICK community…

SQ:  Erin, thank you so much for sharing your personal story with us. It demonstrates courage, and it’s also extremely inspiring.

Erin:  The last 5 months have changed my life. Losing 35 lbs has put me back on track. I am so happy to have the opportunity to share my story!

SQ:  It seems that your story actually began many years ago. I understand you have struggled with weight issues your entire life?

Erin:  Yes, for at least 20 years I’ve struggled with my weight. I was the big overweight kid growing up. Being overweight as an adult is difficult; but being overweight in high school – subjected to teasing and hurtful judgment during the teenage years – is something I wouldn’t wish on anyone.

SQ:  That can definitely hurt someone’s self-esteem, no doubt about it. Can you tell me how you felt when you were at your heaviest, 230lbs?

Erin:  I couldn’t even look at myself in the mirror. My self-esteem was at an all-time low. On top of that, my body was actually in pain. I am 5 foot 8 inches tall, and carrying all that weight caused my back to ache. My joints were always hurting, especially my ankles and knees. Can you believe I am a belly dancer?! But at 230 pounds, I couldn’t even do many of the things I loved.

I was also not blind; I could see strangers staring at me, and I knew what they were thinking. People often assume that overweight people are lazy, that they just sit around and eat junk food. But that’s just not true. I was trying to stay active, exercising and eating healthy, and I started making a bit of progress with weight loss. But, about a year ago, I quit smoking, and my weight shot right back up to 230 lbs again. Let’s just say I wasn’t in a good place in my life, mentally or emotionally.

SQ:  I see. So what happened in March that changed your life?

Erin:  In March, my doctor told me I had PCOS – that’s Polycystic ovary syndrome, a condition that causes hormonal imbalance in women. This can lead to a number of problems, like blood sugar issues, ovarian cysts, metabolic syndrome and stubborn weight gain.

It’s strange; my diagnosis had an interesting affect on me. For the first time in my life, I felt like there was a reason I was fat – not one that I should blame, and not one that I should use as an excuse – but one that I could use as a motivation. It was like, suddenly, there was a face to my fat enemy. I recognized that if I wanted to lose weight, I just had to work harder than someone without PCOS.

SQ:  Can you share some of the life changes you made to get from 230 lbs down to 196 lbs in just 5 months?

Erin:  I’d love to! Firstly, my entire attitude towards weight loss changed. It became a “can do” attitude, instead of one of self-pity. I started researching PCOS, and I realized that my condition makes it easier for me to gain weight, and much harder for me to lose it. But I decided to do it anyway.

So I bought my first bottle of SLIMQUICK, and I joined the Slimquick Community and your 25LB Weight Loss Challenge. I learned a lot from your online tools and the SQ diet plan. I went for a low GI diet, cutting out refined sugars and simple carbs, just like the diet plan recommends. But the biggest change I noticed right away after taking the SLIMQUICK products was the extra energy I felt during my workouts. Before I even finished my first bottle, I could actually already see the changes happening to my body!

SQ:  That’s really wonderful! When you left us your video message back in June, you had already reached the 25lb weigh loss mark – good for you! Then you continued and reached 35 lbs…do you have a new weight loss goal in mind?

Erin:  Yes! By Halloween, I want to reach my target weight of 165 lbs! I’m going to continue to eat healthy and stay on the diet. Also, I always try and change up the workouts, so that they don’t get boring and so I don’t get stuck at a weight loss plateau. I mix up Zumba, Crossfit, resistance training and cardio. I try and keep it fun.

I never thought it was possible to even talk about losing 70 lbs! But losing this weight has changed my attitude, and now I believe I can actually do it.

These last few months, I can even see a difference in my family. They didn’t need to lose weight themselves, but they have really supported me and even started enjoying this healthier lifestyle! My kids actually work out with me, and my husband is the one who goes to the store to buy my SLIMQUICK.

SQ:  That’s fantastic Erin! Did you ever imagine that, in just one short summer, you could transform your entire life and become an inspirational success story to family, friends, and now the whole SLIMQUICK Community?! Is there a message you would like to throw out there for others trying to lose weight?

Erin:  Definitely. I would say that my PCOS condition makes it harder to lose weight. So trust me: if I can do this, anyone can do this. Regardless of your health condition or genetics, if you create a “can do” attitude and surround yourself with people that love and support you, then changing your health and losing weight is possible.

I am a long way from being skinny, but now I believe I can do it. But I don’t think I could have lost a single pound without the support of Kaiya and all the girls at the PCOS Worldwide Support Group. And, most importantly, I want to thank my loving partner and two kids, who have supported me, cheered me on, and have loved me – even when I was 230lbs.

    I’ve lost even more, now! Not quite the low NUMBER I’d anticipated, but I’ve built muscle mass. I’m now down 50 pounds, the pre-diabetes that comes with the PCOS is undetectable, my calves are square, I have biceps and feel amazing!! I can do 15 pushups in under 30 seconds!
    Don’t ever give up, don’t quit. Do it for YOU. Life is so much more enjoyable when you’re able to go out there and enjoy it.

    Erin, as I begin to take my journey your words are an inspiration to me. I look forward to my 25lb challenge. Erin, do you have a current body pic to share. You have the one for 230lb but the one at 196 it’s just a face shot. If it were me, and I lost over 30lbs. I would want everyone to see my transformed body. So please share an updated body picture.
