You don’t want to be left behind in all the merry holiday cheer…but you don’t want to leave your weight loss ideals behind you either. Try these homemade chocolate bonbons as a compromise. Sugar-free and low carb while rich in healthy fats and antioxidants, these DIY candies are a healthier alternative to the store-bought kind so that you can enjoy the festivities with everyone else while practicing moderation with all of the things you eat this season.
These delectable chocolates take about 5 minutes to make, and are best served straight out of the freezer.
DIY Holiday Chocolate Bonbons
4 Tbsp unrefined coconut oil
¼ cup cocoa powder
20-30 liquid stevia drops (to taste)
3 Tbsp water
Pomegranate seeds, raspberries or blueberries
Ice cube tray
Melt the coconut oil in a sauce pan over low heat. Then quickly stir in the stevia drops, cocoa powder and water. Continue stirring and stirring until the cocoa powder is completely dissolved and the mixture thickens into a chocolate sauce.
Pour about 2 teaspoons of chocolate sauce into the bottom of each mold in the ice cube tray. Then place some pomegranate seeds (or a few blueberries or one raspberry) on top of the chocolate sauce in each mold. Cover the seeds or berries completely with more chocolate. Place the ice cube tray in the freezer to harden the chocolate. Serve straight from the freezer.
