Many ladies who take SLIMQUICK tend to have the same story. Weight loss is quick and rapid in the first couple of weeks, but can quickly slow down or even stall. This can be completely normal. Please do not feel disheartened, lose hope or just give up and devour an entire pint of ice cream. There is hope.
But why does this happen? Why do weight loss plateaus even exist? Clinical studies have shown that a plateau in weight loss is bound to happen when around 10% of your body weight is lost. Through a series of hormonal changes that happen when undergoing weight loss, your body decides (usually against your will) that it should take a break from this whole weight loss thing. Plateaus can happen a month in or even 6 month into a weight loss program.
The first thing to do when your weight loss slows or plateaus is to ensure that extra calories have not crept into your diet. Make sure that you are tracking your food intake in your dashboard to help keep track of this. If you are sure that you have been compliant to your diet, this just means that you need to increase your muscle-to-mass ratio to get your metabolism going again.
A plateau is a perfect time to BUILD MUSCLE.
More muscles mean that you will burn more calories per day, even at rest. If you have not yet incorporated weight training into your program, this is the perfect time to do so. If you have already incorporated weights, then you will need to increase intensity. This can be as simple as moving from the Beginner to the Intermediate program, or simply moving from 8lb weights to 10lb weights. Whatever you do, you need to keep challenging your body. That is what will keep your body changing!
Think of plateaus as a mini test for your motivation. I know you can break through them, remain consistent and I promise that your body will change!
